Odisha State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Ltd. popularly known as BOYANIKA, the only Apex Society of the State is organizing the “Exhibition-cumSale in the premises of Odisha Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
On display are unique sarees from every corner of the state. A delightful collection of Sonpuri, Bomkai, Habaspuri, Kotpad, Tassar, Dongria and Khandua sarees are available to enchant the customers. Apart from Sarees and fabric, ready to wear garments and home linen collection are sure to attract the attention of customers. The art of Handloom weaving is highly evolved and the fabric bear testimony to the artistic ability and tradition of weavers of the State.
The Special Handloom Expo is organized with an objective to showcase and promote different handloom products of the State. During recent years, a number of steps have been taken by Government to fulfill the social and economic commitment towards weavers of Odisha for their sustainable livelihood by providing marketing support in organizing Exhibitions/Expos.
“Further, in our endeavor to explore the market and in order to create a brand image of Odisha Handwovens, special exhibition-cum-sales are organised by BOYANIKA in different metros like Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and New Delhi,” Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha said while inaugurating the Exhibition on Friday. Tribikram Pradhan, Additional Resident Commissioner, Bishnu Prasad Mishra, Managing Director, Boyanika, Sucharita Sarangi, Officer on Special Duty, Devaraj Sahu, G.M-cum-Secretary, BOYANIKA and other officials were also present on the occasion.
“ Every year this exhibition is organised twice at New Delhi. The 1st exhibition is organised usually in May to mark the special festivals of Odisha such as Savitri Brata and Raja Sankranti. The 2nd exhibition is organised in September/ October ahead of Durga Puja and Deepavali,” the Managing Director said.
He said that the Exhibition will remain open from 11.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M on all days and Special discount is being given to the customers on purchase of every Handloom Product.
The traditional concept of marketing has undergone changes in recent times and BOYANIKA will go on with the expanded view to explore new avenues of marketing during coming years with the valuable suggestions and feedback of the customers.
