Govt organises Khadi, Village Industries Exhibition

    Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan has organised an exhibition on Khadi and Village Industries in Delhi, offering products made by village industries.

    Govt organises Khadi, Village Industries Exhibition

    Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, under the Ministry of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises, has organised a special Khadi and Village Industries Exhibition at Harijan Sevak Sangh, Delhi. The exhibition was inaugurated by BH Anil Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Khadi and Village Industries Commission. He visited the exhibition and showed keen interest in the products on display.
     
    The exhibition will go on till 31st December, 2014. There are 75 stalls at the exhibition; out of which 40 are allocated to the Khadi institutions, 35 for the village industries ,and Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) units.
     
    Various states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Delhi are participating in a big way.
     
    The display comprises of varieties of silk i.e. mulbary, tassar, munga, andi; woolen shawls with Kashmiri embroidery, jackets, coats;large number of ready to wear garments in cotton, wool, silk and poly Khadi; and wide range of herbal products, including cosmetics.
     
    Laxmi Das, former chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Secretary, Harijan Sevak Sangh, Dr. Naresh Pal, Dy. Chief Executive officer, SP Singh, Director, Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan and other officials of the KVIC were also present.
     
    According to Laxmi Das at Harijan Sevak Sangh in Kingsway Camp, Delhi, the exhibition will continue for next two months. At the same time, Khadi is also offering 20 per cent discount to its products across the stores in the country since Gandhi Jayanti. Students can avail 5 per cent discounts on products.
     
    Harijan Sevak Sangh, one of the participants in the exhibition, was established in the year 1932. Mahatma Gandhi stayed at this campus.
